FROM
BOULDER TO BAGHDAD: DAN WINTERS LEAVES FOR IRAQ
Dan Winters, a Boulder activist who works with the Colorado Campaign for Middle
East Peace and Rocky Mountain Peace and Justice Center, leaves for Iraq on
December 25th. He will join the Iraq Peace Team and other humanitarian
organizations who are in Iraq to assist ordinary Iraqi citizens and to monitor
the effects of economic sanctions and military intervention in their
country.
This will be Winters' third trip to Iraq. His first trip was in 1991, during the
Gulf War; he was in Baghdad when the US bombing began. His second was in 2000,
when he joined former Attorney General Ramsey Clark's mission to deliver
$300,000 worth of medical supplies to Iraqi civilians.
He has no plans to leave Iraq in the event of war.
